Health Test Gift Cards -- Brilliant or Bribery?

http://abcnews.go.com/Health/CancerPreventionAndTreatment/story?id=6082238&page=1

This may not sound like an interesting topic, however I feel it is extremely important. There are not enough people, in my opinion, that are truly informed about major health issues. Issues such as HIV/AIDS, the importance of getting a pap smear, or even a colonoscopy. There are some local hospitals is some states hosting "parties" for these causes. For example, a mammogram party took place where women would get food, get a massage, and be pampered before taking a mammogram. A Colorado town hosted a colonoscpy party where the patients were pampered and served water in martini glasses. These types of things put most people at ease when it comes to these health tests. What some hospitals are doing today are bribing Americans to get tested by giving away $50 gas cards to the first X number of people that sign up. I think it is a great idea and I do not really consider it bribing in a bad way. Even giving discounts on tests will increase the amount of people who get them. Being tested annually is extrememly important, not only for adults, but for young adults as well.

People have a hard time taking care of themselves because there is no immediate gratification. This is a great idea for those who need an extra nudge to seek checkups. However, I believe in the survial of the fittest. If you choose not to take advantage of your environment and look after yourself, you should not get the chance to reproduce.

This is an important thing. A lot of people get nervous taking test. Getting massages and relaxing takes the stress off people and makes it easier to get tested
